PASTE THE WALL INSTRUCTIONS (NON WOVEN WALLPAPER)
Please read these wallpaper hanging instructions carefully before you hang this wallpaper.
We supply this information in good faith, but without guarantee, on the understanding that the installer has the decorating knowledge needed to work with differing site and atmospheric conditions.
1. Inspect Each Roll
Before cutting and hanging this wallcovering, check that all rolls share the same batch reference, are in good condition, show no shade variation, and have no other faults. Also make sure you have enough rolls to complete the job.
Do not assume the wallcovering will come off the roll the correct way up — always check the pattern book or ask the retailer.
You, the buyer, are responsible for examining the wallcovering before hanging it. We cannot accept claims for hanging incorrect wallcoverings, or for defects that were already visible when you cut and hung the wallcovering. If you have any complaints, please quote the design reference and batch number shown on this label.
2. Preparation
Make sure walls are clean, dry, and even. Remove any old wallcovering and loose paint, and scrape off powdery, flaky surfaces. Roughen painted surfaces with sandpaper. If a surface is absorbent, prepare it with an oil-based primer and let it dry completely before continuing.
Also, allow new plaster to dry out completely.
- Metallic effects can be damaged by high levels of alkaline already present in the walls, so prepare the walls with an alkaline-resistant primer to prevent this.
- For best results, we recommend cross-lining walls with good-quality lining paper. Sizing the lining paper will aid adhesion, and you should let it dry completely before hanging the wallcovering.
3. Pasting and Hanging
- Paste the wall, not the back of the wallcovering.
- Use a premium quality tub adhesive, or an equivalent good-quality, pH-neutral, solvent-free, fungicide-protected, light-grade adhesive.
- • DO NOT USE SELF-MIX ADHESIVES. ALL PURPOSE AND HEAVY DUTY PASTES ARE NOT SUITABLE.
- • Apply paste evenly to the wall and hang 1 length at a time, to an area slightly wider than the width of the roll.
- • Join paper by butting together and use a decorator’s brush to smooth down the wallcovering, working from the centre to the edges to express air bubbles.
- • Avoid squeezing paste out of joins and ensure paste does not get onto the brush or roller.
- Do not let paste come into contact with the surface of the paper, and keep your hands clean and dry while handling the wallcovering.
- Paste will damage the surface, and we cannot accept responsibility for marks or damage it causes. If any paste does get onto the surface, sponge it off immediately while still moist, using a clean, damp sponge.
- Trim the top and bottom with a sharp knife or scissors, and make sure the wallcovering is firmly adhered — loose wallcoverings can contribute to fire hazards.
- After hanging 2 or 3 lengths, inspect your work to check for shading or other faults. We cannot accept claims for hanging costs once you have hung more than one roll.
