Suzani textiles were traditionally embroidered by young women across Uzbekistan and the wider Silk Road as part of a bridal dowry, each stitch worked slowly over months as a mark of skill, patience and devotion. In translating that tradition into wallpaper, we worked closely with our UK printers to preserve the tactile quality of hand embroidery, so that every curve of the ogee lattice carries the kind of depth and gentle imperfection that only comes from handwork. Mulberry was chosen for its depth: drawn from antique natural dyes, rich and grounded rather than bright, closer in spirit to old textiles than to modern pigment.
